It is unfortunate that the California Legislature has enacted legislation which makes it practically impossible for residential consumers to obtain legal assistance in this area - especially where the legal rights and obligations of borrowers are so easily (and negatively) impacted by the sophistication and bargaining power of institutional lenders. However, the Legislature has done what it has done; and the Firm has no reasonable alternative.

Consultations Relating to Alternatives

Hanson Law Firm attorneys can, and do, meet with borrowers and consult with them with respect to various options they have with regard to residential loans. Sometimes, a loan modification is the right choice - even if the Firm cannot assist in the negotiation of that loan modification. Sometimes a "short sale" is a better choice, or a foreclosure. Sometimes, bankruptcy is the only (or better) choice. The Firm's attorneys can explain the various options and guide you through the process so that you can make better - informed - decisions.

At HLF, while we don't negotiate short sales with banks, or have a bankruptcy practice, we do have relationships with other Firms that do that kind of work.
