Civil Litigation

While it's called 'civil litigation' -- there's nothing 'civil' about it (although it beats a duel at dawn).

The courtroom is not for the faint of heart. It is serious business, when your business is at stake.

It is also, for many, one of the terrifying experiences they will ever go through. There are differences between a demurrer and a motion in limine; or a summary adjudication motion and a motion for judgment on the pleadings. Each has a time, and a place, in the process. But for most of our clients, who have never been sued before, it's all Greek. (Or, Latin, as the case may be...)

We try to make the process understandable. We outline each step. We prepare regular status reports. We collaborate with our clients on strategy. For them, for us, it can't be a spectator sport.

Not everyone is cut out for trial work. It's said: "There are litigators and there are trial lawyers." At HLF, we are trial lawyers - with an impressive record for both trials and appeals.

So, when you're betting your business on the best defense you can get, or when the prosecution of your case as a plaintiff means the difference between keeping your financial life alive or filing bankruptcy - don't you want attorneys who have the technical skill, and the talent, to be as powerful and persuasive in the courtroom as possible?

I would refer people to Chris because he’s competent and sincere.
